Bhubaneswar: Following hike in petrol and diesel prices, the Odisha government on Wednesday increased fares for all categories of passenger buses as per the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

As per a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fares for Ordinary and Express buses have been hiked by 1 paisa per kilometre, while fares for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses have been hiked by 2 paise per kilometre.

With this hike coming into effect, the fare for Ordinary buses will now be 61 paise per km as against 60 paise per km earlier while the fare for Express buses will be 64 paise from 63 paise per km.

After today’s hike in the fares, deluxe category buses will now charge 86 paise per km as against 84 paise earlier while AC Deluxe buses will charge Rs 1.07 instead of the current Rs 1.05 paise per km, the notification added.
