Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday increased fares for all categories of passenger buses as per the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

As per a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for ordinary and express buses has been increased by 1 paisa per kilometre, while fare for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses has been increased by 2 paise per kilometre.

With this hike coming into effect, the fare for ordinary buses will now be 61 paise per km as against 60 paise per km earlier while the fare of express buses has been increased to 64 paise from 63 paise per km.

After today’s hike, deluxe category buses will now charge 86 paise per km as against 84 paise earlier and commuters travelling in AC Deluxe buses have to fork out Rs 1.07 instead of the current Rs 1.05 paise per km, the notification added.

This is the sixth time this year that the state government has hiked bus fared. The fares were hiked on March 10, 19, May 3, May 23 and June 2.
