Malkangiri: The Border Security Force (BSF) here on Thursday seized a huge cache of explosives stocked by Maoists, apparently to disturb the peace in the region.

Acting on a tip-off, a BSF team carried out a combing operation in MV-47 forest in the area and seized a total of 27 gelatin sticks, 100 detonators and live bullets.

The BSF has tightened the security in the area following the seizure, said reports.

In the last couple of months, Maoists have killed as many as four people over suspicion of being police informers in the State.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed DGP of the State RP Sharma has said Maoist menace is a challenge for the State Police which has done commendable work in curbing naxalism.

“We will have to use latest technologies to deal with the Maoists issue in the State. The 3Ts (Technology, Transparency and Teamwork) formula are also applicable to police,” added Sharma.
