Malkangiri: The CPI Maoists, through a letter today, owned up the ration loot from a boat near Totapadar in cut-off areas of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district last month. The ration was being carried for BSF Jawans posted in the interiors.

In the letter, the Maoists have mentioned that the loot was a way of protesting Andhra Police for arresting three innocent villagers from Andarapalli Panchayat here.

Earlier, the police used to stand by the public in all matters but now has changed its attitude and is least bothered about any of the villagers’ problems, alleged the Maoists in the letter.

The rebels first gheraoed the Kunturpadar station protesting arrest of the innocent youths. Later, when police didn’t release the arrested persons, they robbed all the grocery items being transported by a powerboat to the Kunturpadar police camp.
