BSE to adopt zero tolerance towards malpractice during matric exam

Bhubaneswar: Taking stern note of rise in incidents of malpractice during Matriculation examination especially in rural areas, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has decided to strengthen security and invigilation systems for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination this time.

A three-tier security system will be put in place to keep a vigil on the exam centres during the matriculation examination starting from February 23 in Odisha.

As per sources, the BSE will seek help of district Collectors and SPs to beef up security measures near examination centres. Besides, stern action will also be taken against students involved in malpractice during the exam.

Sources said, the board has decided to initiate disciplinary action against invigilators and center superintendents if the students at their respective centers are found cheating.

“Special teams comprising flying squads would be formed to keep a vigil at exam centres in block and district levels. Any kind of irregularity and malpractice would not be compromised this time,” said Board of Secondary Education (CSE) chairman President Jahan Ara Begum.

A total of 5, 90,330 students will be appearing the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination-2018 that will be conducted in 2,818 examination centres across the State.

The board has also identified nearly 302 nodal centres for safe storage of question papers.
