Bubhaneswar: Students of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) on Monday evening hit the road protesting against assault on OTV scribe Pravat Bisoyi.

The students of the university staged a demonstration at Master Canteen square here demanding stringent action against the attackers.

Besides, the agitating students demanded to abolish child marriage in the state and provide adequate security to working journalists.

Notably, Bisoyi and camera person Smruti Samant were attacked by the families of bride and groom at Khalarda village under Sadar police station yesterday. Some officials of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) were also assaulted by the mob.

Meanwhile, sources in the SCB Medical College and Hospital said though the condition of the brave journalist has improved, he will be under observation for the next 72 hours.

The Commissionerate Police has forwarded the nine accused, including the groom’s father and some others from the bride’s side, to the court.
