Boy killed after concrete chunks fall from house ceiling

Berhampur: A five-year-old boy was killed and another three of a family injured when chunks of concrete fell on them from ceiling of their house in Punanda village under Sheragada block in Ganjam district today.

The mishap occurred at around 4 am while the family members including two kids were fast asleep in the house.

While the five year-old boy, Himanshu died on the spot, three others were rushed to the Sheragada hospital.

The injured have been identified as Simanchal Naik, wife Banita and Priyanshu.

As per hospital sources, the three members of the family are still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sources said the house where the accident occurred was constructed under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in 2011.
