Cuttack: Family members of a minor boy, who recently died waiting for a kidney transplant, today lodged police complaint against two doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital including Nephrology Head of Department (HOD) Prof Chittaranjan Kar accusing them of negligence.

The complaint was filed at Mangalabag police station against Prof Chittaranjan Kar and Prof Sashibhusan Rout after the patient, identified as 16-year-old Aditya Parija of Narendrakona, Puri, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

They alleged despite completion of the required legal formalities and a directive from the Orissa High Court, Aditya, who was admitted to the hospital on January 4, died because of undue delay on part of the doctors to carry out kidney transplant.

As per legal procedures, family of Aditya had moved an application in the Orissa High Court after finding a suitable kidney donor.

On January 5, the court directed the DMET authorities to look into the matter.

After examining the case the DMET issued a no objection certificate (NOC) to the SCB superintendent for the kidney transplant surgery, stated family members of Aditya.

However, the two doctors delayed the kidney transplant operation citing something or the other reasons resulting into Aditya's death.

Meanwhile, Prof Chittaranjan stated Aditya was about to be operated soon as he was allotted fourth number after three more kidney transplants that were to be taken up at the hospital.
