Bhubaneswar: With din in Lok Sabha over no-cofidence motion against Narendra Modi-led NDA government contining, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha is keeping its cards close to its chest.

Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Monday kept everybody guessing by saying that his party will take the appropriate decision at the right time.

"Both UPA and NDA governments have rejected Odisha’s long-standing demand for Special Category Status (SCS). We shall bring up this matter on the floor of Lok Sabha,” said Patnaik.

Meanwhile, several opposition parties have pledged their support for the no-confidence motion against the government moved by the N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Y S Jaganmohan Reddy-led Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR Congress Party).

Both TDP and YSRCP are unhappy over Andhra Pradesh not being granted special category state status.

Earlier, the TDP had quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and moved a no-confidence motion on Friday last week. This came a day after the YSR Congress Party had moved a no-confidence motion against the Modi government.

Congress, the Left and the Trinamool Congress and other parties have extended support to the no-confidence motion.

However, the no-confidence motion was not introduced in the Lok Sabha today.
