Malkangiri: Bonda tribe beneficiaries in Chitrakonda of Malkangiri district have alleged misappropriation in the supply of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice.

While the point of sale (PoS) machines at the panchayat shows nil data, 125 quintals of rice was seen stocked in the panchayat godown.

When asked about it, the supply assistant said some beneficiaries have not collected their share of rice. "I do not have any information about the rice supply. The Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) may know about it. Many have also not collected the rice since they are job holders," said the supply assistant, Sukra Muduli.

"As large stock of rice is stored in the godown I will ask the PEO, who can inform if the rice is properly being distributed among people or not," said Sarpanch of Mudulipada Jyotsnarani Majhi.

Chitrakonda BJD MLA Dambaru Sisa said that he will have a discussion with the concerned officer and minister on the issue. Action will be taken after a high-level probe.

"If the rice is in stock and the Bonda people are not able to get it then it is an unfortunate incident. The concerned authority will be surely questioned about it and action will be taken," said Sisa.
