Cuttack: Panic gripped the busy Badambadi street here on Saturday amid the ongoing festive fervour after bombs were hurled in front of a Durga puja pandal leaving two injured and public in frenzy.

The incident occurred in the evening during an orchestra programme near a puja pandal in Badambadi. Eyewitness said two bike borne miscreants hurled the bomb in front of the puja pandal and immediately fled the spot.

Two persons including a minor boy sustained slight injuries after the bomb fell on an auto-rickshaw parked near the pandal.

On being informed, Badambadi police rushed to the spot and started probing into the matter.

Although the reason for the bombing is yet to be ascertained this is the seventh such incident in the last two months in the busy area.

Earlier on September 25, police managed to nab an accused Kalandi Khuntia in connection with the series of bombing incidents. Khuntia was caught during an encounter by a special squad of the Commissionerate Police near Khannagar.

Even after tight security and strict action, especially in view of the ongoing festivities, regular bomb hurling incidents have left police in a quandary.
