Bomb goes off accidentally; 1 killed, 4 injured

Nayagarh: A man was killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a bomb went off accidentally near a medicine store in Daspalla in Nayagarh district today.

Kanhucharan Nayak was carrying the explosive in his bag, which accidentally exploded at Durga Bazar area killing him on the spot and injuring four others critically, police said.

The injured have been admitted to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation into the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man was a professional blaster and worked in stone quarries. It appears that it was not intentional and was a case of accident, police said.
