Body of woman found in temple well in Angul

Angul: The body of a woman was found in the well of a temple at Santarabandha village under Chhendipada police limits in Angul district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Padmini Pradhan (35), a resident of Kendupasi village in the district. Padmini is survived by husband Khirod Pradhan and a five-year-old son.

Locals spotted Padmini's body in the well on the premises of Banadurga temple and informed the police. The Chhendipada police along with fire officials rushed to the spot and fished out her body from the well.

As per reports, Padmini was observing a fast staying in the temple for the last two days and went missing last evening. An FIR was also lodged at the Chhendipada police station by her husband in this regard.

In his complaint, Khirod stated that he had met his wife in the temple on both the days but didn't find her anywhere in the temple and its surrounding area last evening.

While the exact reason behind the death is still unclear, police have started an investigation into the incident.
