Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today revealed the modus operandi of the sensational dacoity in UCO Bank’s Bapuji Nagar branch on September 28.

Talking to media persons here, Police Commissioner YB Khurania said police has managed to get the details of the dacoity during interrogation of Bijay Shah and Bhagabat Thakur, the two members of the dacoit gang, who were arrested from Begusarai and Vaishali districts of Bihar day before yesterday and brought here on transit remand.

“The gang had planned a blueprint a month before committing dacoity in the UCO Bank. To ensure smooth operation, the gang members had visited the bank and its nearby areas thrice. As planned, the gang members arrived in the morning on September 28 at Baramunda in a truck from Bihar loaded with two bikes. Later, they unloaded the two bikes and went to the bank. After committing dacoity they returned to Baramunda and went away to Bihar in the truck loading two bikes on it,” Khurania said.

He said the police is on the lookout of the truck driver Mohan who is the mastermind of the gang. Besides, police is investigating into the gun and bullets used by the gang members during their dacoity in the bank, he added

He further said the DCP, Special Squad officials and the investigating officers are interrogating the two arrested dacoits.

On September 28, the gang members arrived at the UCO Bank’s branch at Bapuji Nagar at about 9.30 AM. Later, they went inside the bank and took away the cash of about Rs 13 lakh and 70 packets of gold of nearly Rs 37 lakh. Before leaving the area, the dacoits also took away the hard disk of the CCTV installed inside the bank.
