Bhubaneswar: Calling for a boycott of Matriculation answer sheet evaluation, the All Odisha School College Teachers' and Employees' United Forum has decided to stage dharna in front of the evaluation centres from tomorrow.

They have also urged other teachers not to cooperate with the State government in the evaluation process which will begin from March 20.

They alleged that the State government is yet to fulfill promises made on affidavit submission.

“We have kept our promises given to the State government. But, the government has failed to keep its words. The school and college teachers will stage dharna in front of 46 evaluation centres. Apart from this we would not cooperate in evaluation till the State government agrees to our demands,” said Prakash Mohanty, general secretary of the Odisha Secondary School Teachers' Association (OSSTA).

Expressing similar views, convener of the All Odisha School College Teachers' and Employees' United Forum, Golak Nayak said, “No affidavit is required for block grant teachers as stated by the Chief Minister in a press release. But officials are declining to follow the directive. Therefore, we would boycott Plus II exam answer sheet evaluation as well.”

There are around 40,000 teachers engaged in 4,000 block grant schools across the State.

Sources said the State government has employed 13,280 teachers including 6,000 block grant teachers for Matric answer sheet evaluation.

On the other hand, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra emphatically said, “We have a contingency plan to handle the situation. I hope that the teachers will not resort to agitation and will cooperate in the evaluation process.”
