Bhadrak: BJP Yuva Morcha’s (BJPYM) Bhadrak unit general secretary Bikash Shreshta was arrested today by the Bhadrak Town police for alleged involvement in the recent unrest occurred in the town.

Condemning the arrest, Odisha president of BJPYM, Tankadhar Tripathy said Bikash Shreshta is not a criminal. While he was going to Dhamnagar for relief work, Bhadrak town Inspector-in-Charge arrested him.

"Why the police is not able to arrest the son of BJD legislator from Bhadrak who led a bike rally on April 7 when curfew was clamped in the town," questioned Tripathy.

Till now 146 arrests have been made in connection with the week-long Bhadrak violence which started on April 7 following alleged abusive remarks against Hindu deities on social media.

During the Bhardak unrest, property worth Rs 9 crore were damaged in the town.

Meanwhile, the district administration continues to impose the night curfew in Bhadrak town to prevent recurrence of any untoward incident.
