Bhubaneswar: Even as an official notification for the Bijepur bypoll is yet to be published, political parties are now engaged in a high pitched verbal duel with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today claiming that BJP will emerge victorious in the poll with a clear mandate.
Though the saffron party is yet to announce its official candidate for the bypoll, Pradhan stated that BJP will sail through the elections as there is a growing dissent over local governance in Bijepur.
“People’s mandate will be with BJP as there is severe resentment against the local government,” said Pradhan.

Pradhan further said the BJP will continue with its superb performance in the recently concluded panchayat polls and will repeat its success in the 2019 general elections as well.
BJD on the other hand has dubbed Pradhan’s claims as daydream.

“Given the present political situation in Bijepur, BJP is finding it hard to pick a suitable candidate for the bypoll. BJP’s claim of a clear mandate is baseless,” said BJD spokesperson, Amar Satpathy.
The bypoll has been necessitated by the death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
BJD has already roped in Subal Sahu’s wife as its candidate for the bypoll, while both Congress & BJP are still searching for a suitable candidate.
