Nuapada: Taking up various issues, including irregularity in implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Indira Awaas Yojana (PMIAY), over a hundred BJP activists took to streets and gheraoed the NAC office at Khariar Road in Nuapada district today.

The activists, led by party district general secretary Goldy Agarwal took out a rally from the Ram Mandir to the NAC office. They raised issues like poor state of drainage system, irregularity in PMIAY, ration card and sanitation programmes in the NAC. The activists demanded permanent solutions to the problems and submitted a memorandum to the NAC executive officer.

"The administration is not taking up initiatives to clean drains in the NAC that can cause many health risks for the local residents. The PMIAY scheme is also not being implemented properly," said Agarwal.

He further warned that the party would intensify its agitation in coming days if the problems are not solved at the earliest.

When asked, Khariar Road NAC executive officer Debendra Nath Maharana said all beneficiaries have been provided with ration cards and if anyone has been left out, necessary action would be taken after an inquiry.
