Cuttack: The Cuttack city unit of BJP on Monday evening staged a demonstration on the busy streets of Badambadi here demanding the resignation of Food and Consumer Welfare minister from his post for his alleged involvement in multi-crore chit fund scam in the state.

The agitating members of the saffron party also burnt the effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Food minister and Biju Chatra Janata Dal (BCJD) state president and MLA Byomkesh Ray.

The protesters threatened to intensify their stir if the minister does not put in his resignation papers immediately.

Biswanath Jyotki, BJP Cuttack district youth wing president said, “We demand the resignation of Sanjay Dasburma for his involvement in the chit fund scam. Besides, we also demand the arrest of BCJD president Byomkesh Ray and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) deputy mayor Ajay Barik for their links with arrested criminal brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.

Meanwhile, the members of the women's wing of the party lighted earthen lamps at Dolamundai Jagannath temple expressing their condolence for the 102 victims who lost their lives in Puttingal temple explosion in Kerala.
