Bhubaneswar: The State unit of BJP today flayed the BJD for its plan to organise human chain across the State to mark the completion of 80 years of formation of Odisha and Biju Patnaik birth centenary.

BJP state vice president Sameer Mohanty alleged that government officials are being used in BJD's own political programme.

"The panchayati raj department earlier announced to arrange human chain on Biju birth centenary. The Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, helpers and other officials who are coming directly under the control of State government have been asked to take part in the human chain. Letters have been shot up to all block officials in this regard", Mohanty alleged.

"Who gave such right to CM Naveen Patnaik to expend tax payers' money in his own party affairs in the name of Biju Birth centenary?", Mohanty questioned.

The ruling regional party is scheduled to organise the human chain in all blocks, districts and in the capital city.

"The human chain will be organised in all 314 blocks and district headquarters simultaneously. In Bhubaneswar, chief minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the human chain at Biju Patnaik park. Especially, the human chain in Bhubaneswar will stretch from Dhauli to Nandankanan covering a range of 30 km," Panchyati Raj minister Arun Sahoo said.

The programme will kick start at 9 am on Wednesday. A preparatory meeting for the event was held at Exhibition Ground here today.
