Bhubaneswar: Highlighting the ineptness of the State government, the Odisha BJP today released a chargesheet against the ruling BJD detailing its failures.

State president of BJP Basant Panda presented the memorandum of allegations in a press meet at the party headquarters and targeted chief minister Naveen Patnaik over his government’s incompetence.

Panda questioned Naveen Patnaik on why Odisha is a lagging state in agriculture, education, health, electricity, housing, industrialization and employment.

Panda also flayed the state government’s habit of alleging ‘central negligence’ despite adequate financial aid by the Centre.

“Today Odisha is lagging behind in the development yardstick. Is chief minister Naveen Patnaik not responsible for this? Is CM’s announcement of constructing 10 lakh pucca houses and donating it to the poor in 2 years not false? If the CM is right, then will he make public the list of names of beneficiaries in the past two years? 41% of the families in Odisha are yet to receive electricity connection, while 15000 villages don’t have roads. Whatever assistance the Centre is providing, the State government is managing with it, but still it is ruing about Central negligence. If the ruling party has the guts, then the BJP is giving an open invitation for a debate on these issues,” said Panda.

Replying to BJP’s move, BJD spokesperson, Sashibhushan Behera said “It has become a habit of the saffron party to criticize the Odisha government and CM Naveen Patnaik. As BJP’s national president Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Odisha, the party here is undertaking this exercise as it fears that Amit Shah might once again laud Naveen Patnaik and his government.”
