Keonjhar: The district unit of BJP today took out a protest rally demanding protection of river Baitarani in the interest of farming community.

Around 10,000 activists from 42 mandals took part in the rally and staged demonstration in front of the Collector's office. They alleged the government has betrayed the farmers as it diverted their water from the river to private companies. However, the BJP will continue to struggle for the farmers.

"The government wants that the farmers should commit suicide. So, it continues to sell the water of river Baitarani to private companies instead of giving it to our farmers. The motive of government is very clear," alleged Murali Sharma, former State secretary of BJP.
