Kendrapara: A day before the BJP's special function, ‘Mishran Parva’, some unidentified miscreants allegedly tore and burnt the posters and banners of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan put up by the party workers in the town last night.

Hoardings were also found destroyed at old bus stand and Evening College area in the district headquarters town. Leaflets criticising BJP Yuva Morcha and questioning Dharmendra Pradhan on various issues were also found lying on roads.

Blaming political rivals, Kendrapara district unit of BJP lodged complaint at Town police station. "The Opposition parties are frustrated and demoralised over the rising popularity of BJP. We suspect BJD's hands behind such vandalism. Earlier, BJD had committed similar mischievous acts in Bargarh, Bhubaneswar and other places", said Umakant Patnaik, former BJP Yuva Morcha president of State unit.

BJP workers had put up posters and hoardings for the ‘Mishran Parva' programme. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to attend the event.

Reacting to BJP’s allegation, BJD said the saffron party doesn’t trust its own workers. “BJD doesn’t believe in such activities like burning posters and banners. This act is a reflection of their insiders’ anger”, BJD spokesperson Sameer Das said.
