Kandhamal: The BJP resorted to a 12-hour bandh in G Udaygiri of Kandhamal district today pressing for a 14-point charter of demands, including sub-division status to the town.

Protesting negligence on the part of the State government and its apathetic attitude towards various problems in the town, the BJP is observing the dawn-to-dusk bandh. While shops and other business establishments have remained closed, vehicles stayed off the roads due to the protest affecting normal life.

Besides various political parties, G Udaygiri Bar Association and Traders’ Association have extended their support to the bandh.

“People in this area are facing a lot of problems as there are no public toilet and parking space facilities. We don’t have a proper bus stand also. The district administration has turned a blind eye to these issues ,” said BJP G Udaygiri president Anil Kumar Pattnaik.
