Boudh: Protesting against the brutal assault on BJP activists showing black flag at Food Supply minister Sanjay Dasburma at Manamunda in Boudh district yesterday, workers of the saffron party on Saturday staged dharnas in front of the offices of district Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) here.

Besides, the members of the party were seen picketing in front of government offices across the district.

According to reports, BJP team comprising MLAs Rabi Nayak and Pradip Purohit, state vice president Samir Mohanty and general secretary Bhrugu Buxipatra is visiting the spot today. The team will be headed by newly appointed leader of the BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo, sources said.

On their way to visit the spot, the legislature party members met the injured party men who were undergoing treatment at Manamunda hospital.

On Friday, Begunia MLA Prashant Jagdev and his supporters thrashed BJP activists showing black flags to Food Supply minister Sanjay Dasburma at Manamunda while they were on their way to attend a rally organized by the Youth wing of BJD to protest the proposed projects by Chhattisgarh government on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi. The leaders and workers of the ruling party accompanying the minister were seen beating up BJP workers and even kicking them on the face.

Following the incident, Boudh district president of BJP Yuva Morcha lodged a complaint against five BJD men, ministers Pushpendra Singhdeo and Sanjay Dasburma, MLA Prashant Jagdev, corporators Amaresh Jena and youth wing leader Bijay Nayak at Manamunda police station.
