Rourkela: Reiterating his demand for early completion of the second bridge over Brahmani River and Super Speciality Hospital cum Medical College at Rourkela, local MLA Dilip Ray today wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his letter, Ray reminded Modi of the latter's promise to complete the second bridge over Brahmani river made not only in his pre-election speech at Rourkela in 2014 but also during his visit on April 1, 2015 after winning the elections.

Even after three years of the announcement and repeated reminders, the project is yet to see the light of the day, Ray said in his letter.

"The State government on its part has issued necessary forest and other clearances and they too were of the view that the over bridge did not need any clearance and the work on the same should have begun but that too, did not start for unknown reasons," the letter read.

Ray also stressed the need to convert the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a super speciality hospital and medical college to improve facilities in the region where healthcare is still inadequate.

"Lack of specialized services at the hospital is putting lives of thousands of patients at stake. On an average at least 5 to 10 patients are being shifted everyday from IGH," the legislator lamented.
