Bhubaneswar: BJP National General Secretary Anil Jain today lashed out at Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government saying that its inactiveness and corrupt policies have led to underdevelopment in the state.

“Odisha government is inactive and embroiled in utter corruption. Central funds and schemes are not being implemented in the state. Social evil like malnutrition is inflicting people. Even when the state has ample natural resources and minerals, the present government which has been dictatorially ruling the state since last 17 years has not been able to use it for the development due to which Odisha is being considered as one of the most underdeveloped states in the country at present,” Jain said.

“The farmers are being neglected and Central funds meant for their welfare are being denied to them. I am party in-charge of Chhattisgarh and recently its government declared Rs 2,100-crore assistance for the farmers. Besides, Odisha has received ample central funds which have increased by two to three times since BJP came to power in 2014 so there should not be any qualms,” Jain added.

Reacting to Jain’s tirade, Odisha Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout said, “No other state promotes pro-farmer policies in the country like Odisha does. In Odisha we have disbursed Rs 15,000 crore agri loans, at just 2 percent interest rate.”

Rout further added, “Odisha gives 65 percent farm loans through cooperative societies which is a record in the entire country. The best part is that people do not have to keep mortgage for availing loans and further during any kind of natural disasters, interest is not accrued.”
