Bhubaneswar: Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have gheraoed the Bijepur Police Station demanding immediate action against some workers of the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) who allegedly thrashed them.

The members of the saffron party alleged that they were beaten up by some BJD workers in front of Labour Minister Sushant Singh late on Tuesday night.

Demanding arrest of the accused, the BJP members staged dharna in front of the police station. The dharna is continuing since last night.

The high-voltage campaigns by the major political parties in bypoll-bound Bijepur took an ugly turn on Tuesday with shoes being hurled at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
