Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha BJP led by vice president Sameer Mohanty met the Chief Electoral Officer here on Thursday and demanded action against Kendrapara MLA Kishore Chandra Tarai in connection with ‘false’ information furnished by the legislator in his poll affidavit.

Citing that the affidavit filed by Tarai contains somebody else’s name, the party demanded that it should be rendered void and considering that a false affidavit has been filed, action should be taken against the lawmaker.

“We demanded the chief electoral officer to take action against Kendrapara MLA whose affidavit filed during 2014 general elections contains his own signature but his name has been mentioned as Lenin Lenka. This is a gross violation of People's Representation Act for which we have demanded the commission to cancel his membership,” said Mohanty.

“It is very unfortunate and is an example of irresponsibility. Moreover, it is also a violation of law. Surprisingly, such incidents are coming to fore regularly,” said Congress leader, Ganeswar Behera.

Yesterday reacting on the matter, Tarai had said he has no idea about the issue and will comment after verifying the affidavit.
