Sundargarh: To protest against the egg attack on Union Minister Jual Oram’s vehicle by BJD activists in Kendrapara district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a seven-hour bandh in Sundargarh tomorrow.

The bandh is called from 7 am to 1 pm. However, emergency services like healthcare and bank services will remain unaffected.

Activists of the BJP Sundargarh unit would take to the streets tomorrow demanding arrest of the persons involved in egg attack under the SC and ST Atrocity Prevention Act. Besides, a team of the saffron party would meet the Governor tomorrow in this regard.

Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP had lodged a complaint at the Aul police station accusing 22 persons in the egg attack incident. Basing on the complaint, police today registered a case under IPC sections 143,341,294, 336,149 but there is no mention of the Atrocity Prevention Act, sources said.

The incident is likely to snowball into a controversy as BJD leader Damodar Rout today alleged the involvement of BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra's supporters behind the egg attack on Jual Oram.
