Boudh: Demanding the immediate arrest of BJD members for brutally assaulting BJP workers at Manamunda on July 29, the district BJP unit today gave a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh call in Boudh district tomorrow.

Talking to media persons here, district BJP president Soumitri Nayak said the police is yet to arrest the culprits even six days after the event. “Protesting the gross inaction of the police and demanding the arrest of the culprits, including some of the BJD leaders, the district party unit has given a 12-hour bandh call in the entire district tomorrow,” he said.

Nayak said all business establishments, educational institutions, banks, government and private offices will remain closed tomorrow. Besides, there will be no vehicular movement in the district as a mark of protest. “We have requested the people in the district to extend their unstinting support to the BJP in making the bandh a total success,” he informed.

It may be noted that the BJD MLA of Begunia, Prashant Kumar Jagdev and his supporters had severely thrashed BJP activists for showing black flags to Food Supply and Consumer Welfare minister and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) president Sanjay Dasburma at Manamunda in Boudh district while he was on the way to attend a rally organized by the BYJD to protest the proposed projects by Chhattisgarh government on the upper catchments of Mahanadi.
