Talcher: The battle of one-up-manship between the BJP and BJD that began with workers of the ruling party throwing stones at two Union ministers in Bargarh last month today reached Talcher with the councillors of the two parties engaging in a word of words with each other at the meeting of the general body at the Talcher Municipality.

Sources said some BJP councillors raised their voice against the Mayor of the civic body alleging that decisions taken by him are completely biased and accusing him of indulging in corrupt activities. They also demanded a thorough probe into the irregularities in the civic body and dismissal of the Mayor.

Some BJD councillors opposed this and shouted at their counterpart that resulted in a spat between both the party councillors. In the meantime, the BJP councillors destroyed various documents there and boycotted the meeting. They later sat on a dharna in front of the office of the Municipality executive officer demanding dismissal of the mayor and transfer of executive officer.

“The agendas of previous meetings are passed at every meeting of the civic body where proposals are adopted for further development. But most of the records of the last meeting of the civic body held in July are false. The Mayor has incorporated the agenda as per his whim and interest,” said BJP councillor Prakash Moharana.

It is also alleged that media personnel were not allowed entry into the meeting.
