Bargarh: Union Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar’s vehicle was attacked and damaged by protesting BJD workers while he was on his way to attend the BJP’s Vikash Rally here.

Unfazed by the protest, however, Gangwar reached the venue to attend the rally.

According to sources, tension erupted between BJP and BJD workers following the attack on the minister's vehicle.

Earlier, Gangwar was shown black flags by BJD supporters while going to attend a programme in Birajam in Sohela block.

The incident occurred while the minister was on his way to the program at Dasamaili Chhak.

BJD workers also demonstrated near Gandhi Chhak wearing black shirts and holding black flags.

Members of the ruling BJD took out a bike rally in the town this morning protesting against the move of the BJP to observe Vikas Utsav, the countywide celebration of two years of the Narendra Modi government, here today.

Party activists also allegedly ransacked the Meher saree show room in the city, where Gangwar is scheduled to hold discussion with some weavers later today.
