New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The BJD will raise Odisha’s concerns on tax during the discussion on the Goods and Services Tax or GST Bill - India's biggest tax reform ever - which is set to be ratified by the Lok Sabha today, party leader in the Lower House Bhartruhari Mahatab said.

Sources said the ruling party in Odisha has issued whip to all its MPs to be present in the House during discussion. Mahatab will raise state concerns on tax on inter-state movement of goods.

The Bill that amends the constitution to enable the GST reform was passed by the Rajya Sabha unanimously.

The GST bill is likely to sail through the Lower House with virtually all political parties backing the legislation. It will replace a raft of different state and local taxes with a single unified value added tax system to turn the country into world's biggest single market.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to speak during the debate.

The Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha in May 2015 and has been sent back to the lower house to ratify the amendments cleared in the Rajya Sabha. It will then need the President's assent and the approval of 15 states, half of India's 29.
