BJD's bike rally to protest kerosene quota reduction

Bhubaneswar: Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of ruling BJD, will be organizing a bike rally here on Monday protesting against the slashing of the state's kerosene quota.

BYJD will take out the bike rally from the state head office of the party and culminate at Raj Bhawan after passing through Capital Hospital chhak, Sishu Bhawan chhak, Master Canteen, Ram Mandir and Red Cross Bhawan chhak.

The youth wing will stage demonstration against Centre's decision in front of Raj Bhawan and submit a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir, addressed to the president.

More than 3000 party workers are expected to join the rally along with MLAs and MPs of the ruling party.

BJD alleged that Centre has cut 36 per cent of the State's kerosene quota this year and allotted 62,112 kilo Litre kerosene, which is short of 36,336 kilo litres.

However, petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan alleged that the State government is indulging in black marketing of kerosene.

"Odisha government must release the list of beneficiaries. No one deserving will be exempted from getting the benefit. The government's policy of black marketing the oil, hitting the sale of petrol and diesel, is affecting the state exchequer," said Pradhan.
