Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will celebrate its 20th foundation day on December 26 at Talabania in Puri district.

A State-level convention would be held at Talabania. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already written to all the district, block and town presidents of the party across the State to join the convention and take oath to involve in the mission for the development of Odisha, informed the party’s State secretary, Bijay Nayak.

"Preparations have already started for the proposed meeting which is expected to be attended by around 30,000 party workers,” he added.

"CM Naveen will advise party workers how to deal with Opposition and successfully continue the party’s work towards the growth of the State in all spheres," said senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra.

Reacting to Mishra's comment, BJP MLA from Kuchinda Rabi Nayak said, "In its 17 years of rule, the BJD has only cheated the people of Odisha and they will continue to cheat."

Similarly, Congress leader Ganeswar Behera said, "The BJD should introspect and tell the people of Odisha about their failure in taking up projects and schemes for the welfare of the people."
