BJD sets up its own trade union wing

Bhubaneswar: Odisha's ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday announced the formation of its own trade union wing - Biju Shramik Samukhya (BSS).

Veteran trade union activist Rajendra Prasad Singh has been appointed as President of the new unit while MLA Prafulla Samal has been appointed as the Working President, Party’s chief spokesperson Surya Narayan Patro said today.

Similarly leader Subhash Singh has been given charge of the General Secretary post.

"The BSS will work for the welfare of labourers in the state. It would also work towards providing social security to them," said Rajendra Prasad Singh told media persons.

The new trade union unit will have 10 Vice Presidents, 21 Secretaries, 5 advisors, and a Treasurer.
