Kendrapara: BJD MP Baijayant Panda on Friday adopted Singhagaon village under Pattamundai block in Kendrapara district as a model village.

The village has been adopted under the ambitious Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana which aims at development of villages, spread of motivation among people and social mobilization of village community.

The Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana was earlier announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech in 2014.

“The village has been accorded the Adarsha Sansad Adarsh Gram status and today we have approved a number of welfare projects needed for the village. Now we will focus on funding, execution of the projects through administration,” said Panda.

Official sources said, the Singhagaon village which is surrounded by rivers on three sides is almost cut-off from the rest parts of the State.

Proper road connectivity, health and education facilities are the basic problems faced by the residents here.
