Nayagarh: BJD MLA from Khandapada Anubhav Patnaik landed in trouble after his younger sister staged dharna today in front of his house demanding share in ancestral properties.
His sister Abantika, who had married a person against the decision of her family, has a dispute with her brother over properties.
She said she will continue the strike till the matter is resolved. “I have the legal rights on the properties of my father and I demand my share. I have discussed the issue with my mother. I have staged the sit-in since morning and will continue till the matter is resolved,” Abantika told OTV.
“I had taken the matter to court in 2008-09, but was unable to take forward the case due to financial constraint,” she added.
Her brother Anubhav, however, said the move is an attempt to defame him.
“It’s unfortunate that my sister Abantika Padhi is trying to acquire wealth by blackmailing me. She had filed a petition in Nayagarh District and Sessions Court in 2010 and the court had dismissed the case. She has the right on the family properties. But, she should understand that these are inherited. My grandfather late Brajasundar Patnaik has four sons, three daughters and grand children and they all have the same right on the properties," he told OTV over phone.
