Bhubaneswar: Women wing of Odisha BJP, the BJP Mahila Morcha launched a protest against the assault of the Bolgarh woman tehsildar by ruling BJD’s Begunia MLA Prasant Jagdev and demanded action. As a mark of protest, the members of the Morcha covered their mouths with black cloth and carried out a silent march.

Citing crime against women is on the rise the protestors alleged that the State government has failed to provide adequate security. Moreover, they raised questions as to why a complaint has not been filed yet against the Jagdev for assaulting a woman tehsildar on duty.

“We want to know if they could not provide security to a person on duty, who will provide security to all the women working across the State. The State government should take steps and clarify how it can provide safety to women in the State,” said BJP leader Pravati Parida.

“While the ruling-BJD is claiming that its slogan is the ‘strength of Odisha,’ as it now emerges that it has become a nemesis of women in Odisha. If an on-duty tehsildar is not secure, how a common woman can be safe” said Pinki Pradhan of BJP.

Meanwhile, Bolgarh Tehsildar Nihariaka Nayak filed a police complaint against Jagdev in presence of the OAS officiers association. Nayak filed the FIR with the Khurda SP today.
