Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has failed to provide basic amenities to the people of Odisha in its 17 years’ rule, said Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today in reply to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s allegations of neglect towards the State by the centre.

“Was inclusion of 86 lakh families under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and allocation of Rs 5,100 crores for Odisha in the Rail Budget 2017-18 done for BJP’s interest, questioned Pradhan in reply to accusations of Patnaik that national parties are destroying the federal structure of the country and are working for their own interests only.

The Chief Minister on Sunday, during BJD's Jan Sampark Padayatra, had said such parties have misled the people by presenting a fake picture of development.

Pulling Congress into the blame game, Pradhan said it is not the BJP but Congress-led UPA cheated Odisha. He also accused BJD of having a secret alliance with Congress. It is a strategy of the BJD to hide its own weaknesses, he added.

However, BJD vice president Surya Narayan Patro said, "We don't have alliance with any party. Maintaining equidistance from both Congress and BJP, we are into development and don't believe in this blame game."

On the other hand, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee said, "Both BJD and BJP are responsible for the downfall of Odisha.  They have destroyed the State and are involved in all types of corruption."
