Bhubaneswar: The BJD led Odisha government is trying to find an ‘escape route’ on Polavaram, alleged leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra on Saturday.

The remarks came a day after Telangana announced support to Odisha’s stand on the Polavaram project which is being carried out unilaterally by neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Mishra alleged that Odisha government does not have any concrete data on what will be the damage if Polavaram project is constructed.

“Odisha has not tried for a united fight for State’s right and not sought cooperation from opposition parties,” said Mishra.

Mishra stated that BJD should not consider Telangana’s support as a victory as the matter is pending before Supreme Court.

Yesterday, Telangana deputy chief minister Kadiyan Srihari, while calling on Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, had announced that Telangana government stands with Odisha on the Polavaram issue.

“We have already made our stand clear and we are with Odisha government as far as Polavaram project is concerned,” said Srihari.

Srihari further stated that both Telangana and Odisha are equal losers in Polavaram and both states share a common understanding on the issue.
