Jeypore: 'One good deed begets another' and this connotation is proven right by Biswanath Ratha, a passionate film maker from Jeypore in his latest documentary 'Kar Bhala’.

Ratha, an engineer by profession, is living his dream and carving out a niche in documentary film industry. Ratha's films like ‘Zero to Hero’, ‘The Right Glass’ have won accolades at both national and international level and present the true picture of backwardness, neglected healthcare and education in the cut off areas of Nabarangpur district.

“I had produced a social short film, ‘Kar Bhala’, based on a true inspiring story which had won two awards and screened in 28 different international film festivals in last four years. This is a matter of great pride for me and it brings me big credibility and proves my worth,”

“So far I have made four social short films and the next project is ‘The Right Glass’ which is based on child rights,” Ratha told OTV.

But success did not come easy to him and he had to juggle between both his profession and passion. But with his new found desire for film making, Ratha finally made a decision to quit engineering and devote his complete time to film making.

His parents take pride in his achievements, “We initially did not support him but he succeeded to make one short film after another with lot of hard work and dedication. Now we see that he has been able to bring laurels not only to us but to his state and country after making so many short films which have won accolades at international level. We are extremely proud and happy to see him succeed," Pramila Ratha, Biswanath’s mother said.

Meanwhile, locals of Jeypore are no less happy on Ratha’s success. “He is making beautiful movies which overflows with heartfelt emotions and display great moral values. We hope that he continues to make movies in future and bring laurels for the country,” Pravat Ratha, a Jeypore resident said.
