Biju birth centenary: Air show at Kathjodi river bed on Dec 23

Cuttack: The Sports and Youth Affairs department of Odisha will organise an air show at the vast stretch Kathjodi river bed in Khannagar of Cuttack on December 23 to mark the birth centenary of legendary leader and former chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik. This was informed by Cuttack Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra today here.

Informing news men about the decision of the Centre, Mishra stated, “Surya Kiran AT, Akash Ganga and Sarang will showcase their performance and skills at the air show at the Kathjodi bed on December 23.”

Notably, in April, son of the legendary leader and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar requesting him to hold an air show by the Indian Air Force personnel in the State.

All logistic support for these air shows will be provided by the State government, the Chief Minister had mentioned in the letter.

The State government is holding a year-long celebration from March 5, 2016, to make the birth centenary year of Biju Babu.

It is worth to mention that Surya Kiran AT and Akash Ganga performance was undertaken by the Indian Air Force in January 2010 at the same spot during the National Youth Festival.
