Bhubaneswar: In yet another instance of growing distance between him and the BJP, senior party leader Bijoy Mohapatra today questioned party top brass Amit Shah's claims of grabbing 120 seats in 2019 polls during his just concluded Odisha visit.
‘’I don't know about Shah's strategies to capture 120 seats in 2019 elections in Odisha. He may have a report on it,’’ said Mohapatra speaking to mediapersons.
The leader, who has, of late, fallen out with some members of the party for making ‘unfavourable’ statements against BJP, also hit out at the decision making body of the party for not inviting him to Shah's programme. "Maybe for the party, I am incompetent and inefficient. The State president had moved Centre with a report against me. I was not invited. And those are capable enough now-a-days were called for the programme," Mohapatra said.
Criticising the leaders for 'unilateral' decision in the party, he added "I had played a major role in fighting Congress during the time of Biju Babu. But if party considers me inefficient, those are capable now, can be in the decision making team. I am not aware about any of the party decisions and activities."
However, Mohapatra's remarks did not go well with the party. "Questioning top leader's speech may be considered anti-party move. Such type of statement is not expected from a senior and experienced leader like Bijoy Mohapatra. The allegation of reporting against him has no base. State president may apprise the central authorities about the statements he makes from time to time. Being an active member of the BJP, he should refrain from such absurd guesses," BJP general secretary of Odisha, Prithivraj Harichandan said.
