Bhubaneswar: Noted writer Dr Bibhuti Patnaik on Wednesday received prestigious Atibadi Jagannath Das Award for 2016.

Patnaik, who has more than 150 books to his credit, received the highest literary award of the state from Tourism and Culture minister Ashok Panda at a special programme yesterday.

Besides, 10 litterateur for the 2015, and 15 litterateur for 2016 were also awarded at the programme.

Patnaik has written more than 150 books including some popular novels ‘Aswamedhara Ghoda’, ‘Sesha Basanta’, ‘Abhimana’, ‘Trutiya Purusha’, ‘Badhu Nirupama’ and ‘Prathama Sakala’.

He received the Central Sahitya Akademi award in 2015, Odisha Sahitya Akademi award in 1985, Sarala Award in 1999 and Sahitya Bharati award in 2007.

Among others, Manoranjan Panigrahi, secretary of Tourism and Culture department, Harihara Mishra, president of Odisha Sahitya Akademi were also present during the award giving ceremony.
