Bhubaneswar: The unpleasant weather across Odisha had no end as humidity level today touched 98 per cent in the state capital here while Hirakud in western region recorded temperature at 41.9 degrees Celsius.

Bhubaneswar, the state capital of Odisha, almost perspired as the humidity level touched 98 per cent making life miserable for the people.

At least eight places in the western region of the state recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius while the people had a tough time due to high rate of humidity in the coastal districts, an IMD official said, adding that the situation would continue till the arrival of Monsoon.

The places which recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius were: Hirakud (41.9), Jharsuguda (41.6), Sambalpur and Bhawanipatna (41.4 each), Bolangir (41), Sonepur (40.6), Titlagarh (40.5) and Sundergarh (40).

The temperature in Cuttack was 35.8 degrees Celsius.

The city also received rainfall of 18.6 mm during the last 24 hours.
