Bhubaneswar: A two-day national labour conference would begin in the capital city on September 20.

Jointly organized by state Labour department and International Labour Organisation (ILO), the event would be attended by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment. Several issues pertaining to social security of labourers, various welfare measures as well as wage issues would be discussed at the Conference which will conclude on September 21.

Talking to media persons here, Labour minister Prafulla Mallick said this for the first time that such a big conference on labourers are being held in Odisha.

“The conference would touch almost all issues pertaining to labourers, especially in unorganized sector. Apart from this, industrial Disputes Act, abolition of child labour would also be discussed,” he added.

President of Odisha Construction Labourers' Welfare Board, Subash Singh said the upcoming national level conference would benefit the construction workers immensely.
