Bhubaneswar: Garage Chhak flooded after breach in canal wall

Bhubaneswar: A breach in the nearby canal embankment flooded the Garage Chhak area in Bhubaneswar throwing normal life out of gear in the area this morning. According to sources, the Kedargouri apartment block has been marooned while overflowing water from the canal has flooded the low lying areas nearby.

Following the incident, local MLA and Tourism minister Ashok Panda and the Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation (BMC) Ananta Narayan Jena rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

“Because of excess water, the retaining wall of the canal has given way. Currently, we have diverted the water to drain no 10. Once the water is diverted, we will construct the retaining wall,” Jena said.
