Bhubaneswar: The Civil Aviation Ministry appointed Suresh Chandra Hota as new director of the Biju Patnaik International Airport situated in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Hota will assume charge of the Bhubaneswar airport director office in a day or two. Prior to the new assignment, Hota was working as the Lucknow airport director.

Hota is the first Odia director of the Bhubaneswar airport after it started functioning.

Hota, a native of Sambalpur, stated, “Priority will be to make passengers feel delighted after reaching the Biju Patnaik International Airport and I believe the kind experience I have will help achieve the goal.”

He replaces Ramaswamy Mahalingam, who took charge of the Biju Patnaik International Airport as director in March 2016. Mahalingam has been transferred to Coimbatore in Kerala.

Mahalingam, the Bhubaneswar airport’s outgoing director, said, “This was my first assignment in any airport in the eastern India. During my year-long tenure, many development works took off at the airport.”
